Fabrications
In an earlier post, 'Pisces', I showed some images of unfinished fabric art which had been lying in my trunk for quite awhile awaiting inspiration. Well, the inspiration finally arrived last month, not surprisingly during the Piscean season. At that time of year the sun floods into our living room and draws me to my favourite armchair where I could spend all afternoon just basking like a cat. So why not sit there and stitch at the same time? And I did.
The result is the above, named "Swimmers" and the following pieces. They all started with a stencil design which I cut and placed on acrylic paint-soaked cotton fabric and allowed to dry. I then layered this 'matrix' with nylon mesh in varying colours and thicknesses and began random stitching and beading. The finished works are now mounted on foam core and framed very simply, ready for the June exhibition.
"Glitterfish"
"Harem"
"Dark Angel"
