The Owl and the Pussycat
This coming weekend we will be exchanging our final Art Journals which have been in circulation for fourteen months. Here's a preview of my last entry for the person who chose 'Foreign Lands' as her theme. The earlier contributors had pretty much covered the globe by the time it was my turn so I decided to go outside the box by illustrating 'the land where the Bong Tree grows', from the Edward Lear tale of 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. This and many other of his nonsense rhymes were favourites of mine as a kid and must still be...it keeps returning in my images.
I painted this cartoon of a pea-green boat for a previous art journal whose owner had chosen the colour green as her theme. As I found out later the poem was among her favourites when she was a child.

I love The Owl and the Pussycat ! You should really illustrate the entire poem...in English and French.
Beautiful work.
Thanks and merci for the suggestion. It has been done by many others including Lear and, my favourite, Stephane Jorische. But I appreciate your fan-dom.
Beautiful beautiful....I agree, illustrate the whole book!
Ah, such faith you have. Maybe someday...
