Christmas Birds

Every year at Christmas I make my bird cards. This has been going on for quite a few years now and at least one of my friends has faithfully had each card framed for her bird wall. Not every year has been represented by a bird and I have at times decided to stop doing them but the call is out again, so I have decided to do another one this year to satisfy some of the true believers.
All the birds you see below were done with a set of
stencils, cut painstakingly by myself, at times involving blood. However, this year has involved the less painful medium of brushwork.

Dear Fran, why do you use a stencil? Why not just paint each bird over on each card? I truly love the way you made artworks out of your house pictures, adding the gardens.

Thanks Marlana, the houses are fun to do like that.
I started doing bird stencils years ago when I had a bigger Christmas card list and less time. So the tradition stuck.
