I look for beauty and truth in everything. It's not always there of course but I try to find it or make it happen. I love people who make me laugh.

Art Fayre

Last weekend we had our annual Art Fayre in Dunvegan. Here are some behind-the-scene shots of the hanging. Above Flip and Barb check the titles and numbers. Incredibly all the works were delivered and hung/displayed on the same day. We're getting good at this after three years.

The hanging coincided with Ronna's birthday so of course we had cake, a psychedelic creation kindly made by Barb. There were also chocolate chip cookies, courtesy of Jennifer. After all our hard work we really appreciated these treats.

WELCOME
All is ready for the Vernissage. Flowers, finger food and fabulous art. The weather is perfect on both days, mainly sunny but not too hot. The stream of visitors is steady.

THE DEMO TENT
This is where some of the artists showed 'how it's done'. Susan is adding embellishments to a sun-print I'd just completed. We did this as a joint effort and we each ended up with our own piece as a souvenir. Other artists demonstrated their wood-carving, rug-hooking and sketching techniques to the amazed watchers.

THE DRAW
Ronna fishes for a winning ticket in Flip's drum for the final draw. She couldn't win this one though, the prize was her own donated ceramic coffee pot.

THE PARTY'S OVER
At exactly ten minutes to five a huge black cloud announced that the end was near.
The wind swept away anything not nailed down which included the contents of the Doodle Table, stickers, glitter pens, pipe cleaners and feathers. By five o'clock it was all over. The rain had started and people were rushing madly to rescue the tents, secure the trash, fold table-cloths and pack away dishes. Sold artwork was picked up by new owners, unsold works were returned to their boxes and blobs of blue-tak were removed from the walls.

It's amazing how quickly an event can end...a fraction of the time it takes to set it up.

And no, I didn't sell anything. No red dots for me. Lots of compliments came my way but there's nothing so nice as compliments followed by cash. I'd like to be philosophical and say, "it really doesn't matter, it's all about the art, blah, blah, blah..."but I'd be lying.

Oh....this looks like so much fun.
From what I could see the art work looks great. Has to be a challenge hanging them on a log wall.

Hope it was great weather and a good time by all.

Yes, log walls are a challenge but the good thing is you don't have to worry too much about nailholes.

You all did a great job organizing this show, and hanging everything in a beautiful way!

And your artwork is beautiful. :)
